About Gateway Furniture
"Having a home is much more than having a house. A home is a place which provides warmth, family and sense of security. Its furniture and furnishings and manner of its decoration provide a sense of personal identity." – Shelter
Gateway Furniture is part of Gateway Church, committed to helping local households in need. We provide good quality second-hand furniture, domestic appliances and home starter items to help people build a home.
We collect furniture and electrical items from households across the Swindon area, which, in most cases, are then passed on to other households who would otherwise be unable to purchase core furniture items. Not only does our work support local people through the provision of furniture, but it also helps the environment, by reusing good quality items that in many cases would have ended up going to landfill.
Who can use Gateway Furniture?
Our heart is to help local people who are facing difficult circumstances, and we do not exclude anyone from accessing our services. We operate under a referral system, where other local support organisations - who are closer to the individual needs and circumstances of their client - assess what items are required.
There are currently over 60 support agencies or organisations that refer clients into us from within the local community. This includes social services, Citizens Advice, health visitors and other similar organisations. Once a referral has been made, the client is contacted to select their items and a delivery date is confirmed.
